Online Pet Stars

It goes without saying that Americans are wild about their pets. We spend an inordinate amount of time, money, and energy making sure our cats, dogs, fish, and exotic animal friends are happy and healthy. The pet industry is booming and it shows no sign of slowing down.

It was only a matter of time before this pet mania spread to the internet.

Today, people can log on to order pet food or custom-made clothes for their four-legged companions. Top notch veterinarians are available to answer specific questions via email and there are websites devoted to issues about animal health and nutrition.

Breeders from across the country are getting in on the game now.

If you are a breeder, a web site offers a one of a kind opportunity to advertise your services and show off your animals. A responsible breeder will take care to promote their business in the most tasteful and informative manner possible. Here are some of the elements you may want to include on your site:

- An attractive logo with your business name and an illustration of your animal
- Proof of your breeder certification
- Testaments from customers and reference information
- Striking photos of the animals
- Pedigree charts
- An online store where viewers can purchase merchandise

But you do not have to be a registered breeder to showcase your beloved animal. Pet owners of all kinds can illustrate their love for their creatures by creating a very special web site. A pet web site may contain:

- An introduction to your pet, including a time line of when you first came together
- Photos of different sizes and formats, with captions and without
- A daily journal highlighting your interactions with your pet
- A message board where you and your loved ones can exchange comments and bask together in the love you feel for your pet
- Pet memorials or special messages about the family pets of the past

But what if you are not computer savvy or you do not have a scanner? How can you share your pet

Online Car Loans With A Specialist Website Always Work Out Cheaper

Now you have found the car of your dreams all that is left to do is to find the loan of your dreams and ideally this would be a loan that has the lowest interest rate while at the same time offering you the very best deal possible. Although your ideal loan might be just a pipe dream if you have your head in the clouds, online car loans can work out to be the cheapest and come with the lowest rates of interest you could hope to find especially if you go with a specialist website.

A specialist website will be able to gain access to the whole of the car loan marketplace which means that no stone is left unturned when it comes to checking out the top UK lenders for the best deals possible and of course with the lowest interest rates possible for your circumstances.

Your personal circumstances do go a long way to determining how low the rate of interest will be for the loan, all lenders will take into account your credit rating before offering you a loan and this will go towards how much the rate of interest is offered. A good credit rating will secure you the cheapest rates of interest and a low credit rating will mean that you have to pay more as you are seen as a bigger risk. If you have a very low rating then you might need to search for a bad credit loan but again a specialist will be able to help you to get the best deal in online car loans.

You will have to decide from the outset how much money you want to borrow and of course how long you wish to take the loan over, the majority of lenders will give loans for anywhere between 1 and 30+ years but you do have to take into account that with the depreciation of cars you could be paying the loan and the car be worth a lot less by the time you have finished repaying and you also to remember that the longer you choose to take the car loan over then the more interest you will pay in total and if you have got your eye on a second hand model then the interest can seriously boost up the total cost of the car. You will have to decide how much you can afford to repay each month and then work out if the car will be worth the total cost, when paying a little more each month will keep the total cost down but you have to ensure that you can meet the repayments each month.

Online car loans always work out cheaper than going with high street lenders but you do have to take care when choosing which to take and ensure that you check over the key facts of the loan before signing as this is where you can find additional costs and find out how much in total the borrowing will cost.

Making Money with Articles: Placing Banner Advertisements On Your Website

Placing banner advertisements on your website can increase your monthly revenue greatly. This option is better than being an affiliate for several companies because you will get one monthly fee no matter how many of your visitors go to the website or make a purchase. The main thing is for you to create an informative website filled with useful articles, so that you can generate a high amount of returning visitors. As your site rises on search engine rankings, the blank space on your site will begin to look more and more appealing to advertisers. Anyone can be an affiliate, but to have a banner placed in a good spot on a high-ranking website will bring in the most revenue for a company. Once you have established yourself as a site that can be profitable for them, you can rent out different spaces on your site for advertisers to place banner ads. Each month you will be paid the same fee, no matter how much they do or do not make off of you.

Making Money with Articles: The Best Place to Place Affiliate Links on Your Website

Where you place your affiliate links on your website can really make a difference on how many clicks you end up getting and, since every click means a potential sale, this is an important aspect of internet marketing.

Research has shown that the most effective affiliate links are text links. Yes, plain text links. Not big flashy banner ads like most affiliate website are filled to the brim with. What happens is, you write a great article (or have one created) about the product or something related to the product and stick the link into your text. This allows interested readers to see the link as they are reading and click on it.

Of course, your article and your link have to work effectively together to make this happen. A bad article and an unrelated link to an unknown product are not likely to make the profits roll in.

So the next time you are out to choose an affiliate link, try placing a relevant link in a great article that is well optimized for search engines and see how it works out for you.

Is Having Back Links Important To Your Website?

Using links as a practice to get your websites search engine position increased, is a positive thing. Many people ask the same question, how many links will you need to have this happen? Can you have too many? Link promotion is the use of links to build traffic to your internet site as well as to develop your search engine position. This goes together. You want to increase your position on the search engines and your links.

Links, How many do I need?

That there is no actual set amount. It's not having ten or twenty or trying to get to a 100. Its about having the correct type of links coming to your internet site. As an example, you will need to understand about both reciprocal links and the best type of link which is one way links. One way links create traffic to your site without having the visitors click away from your site with additional links on your internet site. Link exchanging, when performed correctly and applied in the right overall manner can help as well.

Beyond this, you will want to accomplish this by having good types links. The links should be related in some way to your website. This mean you will nee to find webmasters that offer similar, but should not have the same information that appears your site.

The amount of links you should have pointing to the site, the accurate count to go with this is as many as possible. Try to be sure that they are good, well researched links, so they are not poor links. Make sure they offer both reciprocal and one way links. Use them the right way and your business will really improve from using them.

So if you use reciprocal link exchange and one way links in your link market portfolio and have patients your website will get the search engine rankings you desire.

Not All Website Links Are Created Equal

If you've read anything in the internet marketing arena while trying to promote your website, you've no doubt come across the advice that you need to get links to your website in order for it to do well in the search engines. I'm not here to tell you otherwise, only to point out that when someone gives you advice on getting links, don't assume that any and all links are helpful or desirable. You need to learn to go after links that will give you the best results for the least amount of effort.

Years ago, in the early days of the internet, it was not uncommon for internet 'gurus' to council people to place links on FFA lists in order to get traffic. Besides these FFA lists, webmasters were encouraged to get links from classified ads, webrings, link farms and all manner of beasts like these. These links didn't help the average user find useful information faster. In fact, if anything it made it more difficult for people to find what they were looking for.

Years ago search engines were simple by todays standards. Back then you could often achieve top ranking for a particular keyword by simply repeating these keywords over and over again. Early search engines assumed that the more often a keyword was mentioned, the more likely the page was relevant to the topic. This, of course, was not true and search engine companies eventually wisened up to this tactic.

Getting a mass of links from websites that are not relevant to the topic of your website produces little return. It does produce some return on some search engines but very little for the two biggest ones, Google and Yahoo, with Google being the most sophisticated of the two engines. Based on information from a Google patent application released a while back, experts surmise that Google will track a number of factors when determining how to rate the value and authority of the link pointing to your site.

Some of these factors include the topic of the website linking to you. If it is about deer hunting and your website is selling access to a website builder, the link won't count as highly as if it came from another website promoting a website builder or a web hosting company, web hosting directory, etc...

Number of links on a page is also important especially when factoring in Google pagerank. When another website places a link to your page, it will transfer more pagerank to your website the fewer the links on their website. Depending on how much pagerank the other website has, your link may tansfer little or no pagerank back to your website if there are too many links on the page.

Placement of the link on the page is another factor to consider. Advanced search engines like Google are now trying to discount links that are obviously advertisements or paid linking. To this end, links under partner sections, on links pages, on 'partner' pages are being discounted.

So what kind of links should you get? The best kind of links are keyword rich, contextual links within the body of the web page. Links that are relevant to the context of the page are going to get more attention that links that are clearly off topic. Including your targeted keyword between the html anchor tag is also a good idea.

Options For Website Development

Countless people are trying to figure out how to build their website. They know they need one. They have an idea what they want it to look like. They know what they want the website to do. In many cases, they even know the domain name they want to use. But the real question is: where do I start? Who can build it for me? What

Increase your Websites Visibility

Is your site making money? Is it making as much as you want? Your site may need to be modified to increase its earnings and your profits. Competition on the internet is ruthless. If you want to play the game, you need to know some of the tricks of the trade. Some great things to get you started are links and directory listings. There are also a few other tips that will help increase traffic and give your site a good reputation.

Directories are an excellent way to increase visibility of your site on the web. There are numerous directories on the web that have topics related to all kinds of businesses. If you have other quality sites like directories pointing toward your site, this will increase your number of inbound links, and thus give you some extra visibility points. Some directories require reciprocal links back to the directory, but these can actually hurt your visibility. It is good to have relevant links on your site however. Link to other sites that are industry specific and update the links often in order to keep your site current.

Linking is an extremely important way to increase website visibility. The greater number of quality links you have coming to your site, the better your visibility. Developing an advertising agreement with other website owners, you can increase each others visibility by sending visitors to each others sites.

When linking to other sites, it is important to consider their ranking. Make sure the site has a good ranking by using Google PageRank. Having a site link to you that doesn

Necessary Elements Of Website Development

Most businesses can benefit from a good, online presence. Whether a website is used as an online portfolio and contact method or a more complex customer management and shopping cart doesn't matter. What matters is that your website matches the professionalism of your organization. Many websites that fail to make the impact expected fail because they are inaccessible or simply look unprofessional. The effectiveness of a website design comes down to a lot more than colors and code.

Quick To Load

Pages and page elements must be quick to load. A surfer's attention span can be measured in seconds, and very few of them. Bearing in mind that while high speed Broadband connections have become much more popular, there are still a large number of people using 56k dialup modems. Masses of graphics and multiple streaming videos that play automatically will make a page slow to load. Poor design and coding can also cause a page to load slowly, along with an overloaded server, and excessive traffic.

Accessibility

Web site accessibility is vital and there are a number of facets that should be considered. At its core, accessibility means that the site should not be prone to regular outages. These are usually caused by unstable host servers but can be caused by poor programming and maintenance. Your site should also be accessible to people regardless of disabilities, usually overcome by providing the option to increase text size or have an audio version of your site. Check your site loads properly in all browsers, on all systems, to ensure the greatest possible level of accessibility.

Easy Navigation

Site navigation needs to be simple and easily visible. If you intend to attract visitors from the search engines then navigation menus also need to be accessible for the search engine spiders. Text links are usually best, but if you use Flash menus or images, then include a sitemap and link to it directly from your homepage. This will help people that are looking for specific information, and the search engines appreciate the effort too.

Clean and Crisp

While partially a design element, keeping your site clean and clutter free also assists visitors and helps improve your site's performance. Too much clutter distracts users' attentions away from the main point of the page. If there eye is caught by a flashing banner at the side of the page then most visitors will give up trying to read the main content and look for another site.

Functional and Intuitive

Depending on the purpose of your website, it needs to fulfill the desired functions. If your website is an informative website with contact details and some basic details then the functions are relatively limited. However, if you are selling products, then use recognized and user-friendly shopping cart software. Try to limit the number of clicks a user has to make to get from the beginning to the end of the purchase process. The more clicks your visitors have to make, the less likely they are to make them.

Good Content

Everything from graphics to photos and menus to videos are considered content. Even advertisements for other websites that are used to monetize your pages can be considered web content. Ensure that all content is relevant and is beneficial to your visitors. If there is no real value in including a two minute video clip, then remove it. This will help make the page quicker to load, more accessible, and cleaner. It will also ensure that your visitors are not distracted from the content on the rest of the page.

The Important Website Design Factors

It can be tempting to try and include as much information and as many features and design elements on a page as possible. This is a temptation that is best avoided in the vast majority of cases. Surfers want access to relevant information, and they want to access that information as quickly and painlessly as possible. This means quick loading pages, an accessible site and good navigation options. You should also ensure that the pages are not too cluttered, but are still functional and provide high quality content.

Need A Website? You Have 3 Options

When it comes to building a website, most individuals and small business owners think you either have to do it yourself or hire someone to do it. Web builder software is often the better option for this group by far.

Even if you're a seasoned web professional, you should know what web builder software can offer private individuals and small businesses. Designers regularly waste time fielding inquiries from small-time website owners who don't realize the time, effort, and therefore cost involved in making a website from scratch. Or your brain may be picked endlessly by a would-be developer. Recommending a good web builder program is a great way to help this group--you can even monetize these non-prospects by reselling web builder software or referring it as an affiliate.

The 3 Web Design Options

DIY (design it yourself), usually using software such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage.
Pay someone else to design it.

Use a "website builder" that includes everything you need and builds the website based on a setup wizard that asks questions about your website goals.

Most people just stumble into one of these three options without really comparing. In fact, if someone is even considering whether to try to do it themselves, hire a pro, or use a website builder program, it's extremely likely they really do need to start with a website builder program. After all, with the small investment required by web builder software, you can easily decide to go the DIY or professional design route later. But the money and time spent on professional services or DIY cannot be un-spent.

If you don't have the web design skills that would lead you to make your own website without questioning, or the budget to hire a designer just as easily, your time, money and other resources are probably better spent on other aspects of your website--such as promoting it, planning it, or getting content for it.

Website Options Comparison: Cost

: Cost of software (Dreamweaver, the most popular, runs about $300) + many hours of your life--what is your time worth?

Web Designer: $500-$5000

Website Builder: $100-200 (if a software package); $15-40/month (if a subscription service)

Time

DIY: Depending on your skill level, a week to a few months.

Web Designer: A few weeks till completion (but little time on your part).

Website Builder: Five minutes to an hour (depending on how much you want to play with the options).

Graphic Design: Most people who build their own websites use graphic design templates, or at least ready-made graphics. But there's still the problem of how to bring the elements of the design together into an attractive whole.

Web Designer: If you want to be taken seriously, a graphic designer will go a long way. Still, many people manage to sabotage the designer's work with too many demands. Also, some designers are really programmers rather than graphic designers, and will use templates anyway. In the end, though, the biggest drawback is cost: graphic designers can do it better, but can you afford them?

Website Builder: The advantage of a website builder over DIY templates is that the builder will save you the time of coding the website to stitch all the parts together.

Make Money Online With Your Website

Now, we discuss making money online. It means doing online business. Although there are some ways to make money online without a website or product, just like making money online with Google AdWords or other PPC Campaigns, or email marketing or any other ways. We still have to admit that we are powerful and potential with a business website.

It is very similar to traditional business. You have to have a business name and place. Doing online business, you need a domain name and web server to host your website. Who knows it will not be the next eBay or Google. Just imagine, how much does Google have to pay for acquiring a domain like www.google.cn? (It is a true story that Google purchased the domain name to serve China). Forget about free hosting services; find a reliable hosting service. Free domain and free hosting can not be considered for a business website. There are so annoy that your visitors will go away without staying one second.

You have only several seconds or less than 10 seconds to grab visitors' attention. If you fail, then they are gone. Moreover, if you confuse visitors, they are gone. You need to make a website that people want to browse.

Remember that domain names are unique - no two web sites can have the same name (or the same IP address). And many web hosting providers include domain name and online payment as part of the web hosting. Taking advantage of such an offer is the easy way for you to benefit from your business website.

There are many reasons why choosing the right web hosting. Most important, it should be beneficial for your online business. If you don't purchase a package that offers you all what you need to run your online business, you won't be able to attract and retain a faithful client base to expand your online business.

Attractive, convenient and useful plus secure are what you have to think about your business website.

Just imagine, you are a visitor to other website. What are you looking for and why do you stay to see or click? A website's design should be attractive and easy on the reader. Think of your visitors. Think of yourself! Normally, your website should be clean, crisp, and appealing. Pictures work well with text when you express your products.

Navigation should be consistent throughout each page. Take advantage of template to create a structured template and navigation scheme that is consistent for each page of your website. Check to make sure that none of your links are broken. When adding new links to the navigation, make sure it is added on each page. Remember broken links are devastating to your business.

Security is an important feature offered by web hosting companies and another example of how an online business can benefit from the right web hosting. If an online business cannot assure customers that it's safe to enter personal information on the company's website, there's likely to be few people who are willing to take the chance. Especially when it comes to financial information - credit card numbers and bank account information - security is vital.

Without saying how important the utility is. This is the goal that visitors come to your website. Giving a feedback forms, contact information and term of use or policy will improve your utility.

Popular Social Networking Websites

Do you love using the internet to meet and talk to new people? If so, there is a good chance that you have heard of social networking websites before. If you have not, you will want to familiarize yourself with them because they are rapidly becoming the most popular way to communicate with others online.

Protecting Your Website From Online Thieves - Part 1

Why people steal

Publishing online is very easy for anyone to do; it's also very easy for others to steal. As the web expands in size, so do the number of thieves. Online thieves steal anything from a single image or a paragraph of content to an entire web site. Every web site is vulnerable.

If you have a web site, chances are you will come across another Web site showing your original work and passing it off as its own.

Our entire web site has been hijacked by other companies several times this past year. The online thieves included a high-ranking Chamber of Commerce member and a church pastor.

Excuses, excuses

Rationalizations online thieves offer for stealing include:

1. "I won't get caught - the web is too big."

2. "OK, I got caught. But you can't really do anything to me. Copyrights on the web are impossible to enforce."

3. "Everybody's doing it."

4. "It doesn't really hurt anybody."

Online thievery can be extremely damaging. The damage doesn't just come from the online thieves taking credit for your work - and taking potential prospects away from you.

You could wind up being sued by your own clients or associates. The reason? Some parties might have clauses stipulating that if the work they commission or license to you is shown without authorization on another site - especially an objectionable one - and you failed to exercise precautionary measures against copyright infringement, you can be held liable.

The good news

Copyright protection online is accessible, affordable and just as enforceable as traditional media. UK copyright law states that electronic files - including web files - are copyrighted the moment they're put into a tangible form, even if they're not on display to the general public.

Protected web files may include the site's content, code, scripting, graphic images, sound and video files, to name a few. Legitimate ISP's and web hosts now have their own copyright infringement guidelines, and they work with copyright holders to remove stolen materials from their web space, even to terminate the thief's web account.

But the web site owner must do the work. No one should expect others to protect your web site. It's still up to the owner to gather proof that he/she owns the copyrights, search the thieves out, and take swift action against them.

To help you prepare, see Prevention Cures Copyright and Act Now for Your Copyright for a complete guide to protecting your web files and how to successfully handle an online copyright dispute.

Investing In Links For Your Website

Online Travel Websites: Can They Really Save You Money?

Are you interested in taking a trip or a vacation soon? If you are, you may be looking for ways to save money. When it comes to finding great travel deals and discounts, many individuals are told to visit online travel websites. With that said, many are still left wondering if online travel websites can really save them money.

When it comes to determining if online travel websites can save you money, there are a number of important points to keep in mind. Generally speaking, yes, online travel websites can save you money, but you need to proceed with caution. If you are not careful, online travel websites can actually end up costing you more money in travel costs, like with airline reservations.

The best way to find affordable airline reservations and other travel arrangements is to know what you are getting. This is important to the overall success and satisfaction of your trip. For many individuals, online travel websites can be tricky to use, especially with a number of rules, restrictions, and exceptions. When you buy a ticket on an online travel website, make sure it is for an actual set of tickets; do not purchase any standby tickets, as you may not be able to fit onto the flight in question.

In keeping with knowing what you are getting, it is important to thoroughly examine any airfare quotes that you may receive through an online travel website. What many do not realize is that most online travel websites charge consumers a fee for using their services. This fee is often hard to notice, as it is typically included in with the quoted airfare rate, but that does not mean that it will not exist. Keep an eye on online travel websites and the fees that they charge, as they should be reasonable, but not too high.

In staying with costs, you will want to compare prices, when looking to buy airline tickets on an online travel website. What you will want to do is examine similar flights on different online travel websites. Since most travel websites charge different fees, you will likely see some differences, but be cautious of any huge price gaps. Significant gaps in quoted prices are a good sign that you are being overcharged or at least over quoted.

In addition to buying airline tickets through an online travel website, you may be interested in booking a stay at a hotel or booking a reservation for a car rental. When doing so, you will likely end up buying a vacation package. Vacation packages are nice, but they are designed so it is easy for consumers to overpay or at least walk away without getting a good deal. When you are quoted a price for a vacation package, the name of the hotel in question should disclosed. Quickly visit the website for that hotel and perform your own private quote. Do the rates match? Are you getting a good deal or not?

In conclusion, online travel websites are a nice way to make travel arrangements, especially where airfare is considered. If you are careful and watch every step that you make, you can use online travel websites as a quick, easy, and convenient way to book your travel arrangements, including your airline reservations, while saving money at the same time.

New Oregon Website Tells It All

"Oregon Coast Beach Connection" is the name of an enormous, comprehensive website launched by Newport-based tourism publication Beach Connection, featuring extensive virtual tours of the upper half of the coast and a myriad of other details useful to the visitor. It is found at www.beachconnection.net.

Oregon Coast Beach Connection contains archived content from the print publication, which distributes from Seaside to Florence and from Portland to Corvallis - about 160 miles of coastline. There's an up-to-date events calendar, news about new businesses and changes on the coast, a large amount of information on lodging and dining, as well as a guide to Lewis & Clark spots - but with a bit of a twist.

The virtual tour - while not entirely completed - features an average of 60 photos and stops for sections of the coast like Seaside, Cannon Beach, Newport or Nehalem Bay. Some areas have less, and some are not up yet. It is an extremely useful tool for the visitor-to-be or regular visitor to the coast; for those very familiar with the area who want to make more discoveries, or for those who want to explore ahead of time before coming out.

In many cases, the virtual tour moves the web surfer from beach spot to spot just a few feet at a time. Some parts of the tour are like standing in the same spot and looking north, west and south, occasionally in increments of several feet. Other sections show different moods and different sides to a particular beach, and give unique, detailed glimpses into what fun can be found on this especially pristine and notable section of U.S. coastline.

There's also a list of every bar and lounge on the upper half of Oregon's coast ( www.beachconnection.net/pubcrawl.htm).

Coming soon will be a section on coastal geology, archived works from regular Beach Connection columnists (including former Oregon Coast Visitors Center executive director Guy DiTorrice), among other additions.

The site currently boasts upward of 300 pages, and is expected to contain more than 500 when the virtual tour is entirely finished. All photographs and text are the creation of editor Andre' Hagestedt, who is a former writer with Statesman Journal, KXL radio, The Oregonian, Eugene Weekly, The Rocket, Valley Business Weekly, among numerous others. He lives part time between Portland and Nehalem.

The publication is owned by Toledo/Newport graphic designer Karen Ware.

Podcasting

I have been seeing the word podcasting floating around the Internet for a while. And actually read an article that stated it

When I first got started out on the Internet

Only the very few bothered with making a website. You see, the Internet was still clunky and slow, and it required some real programming knowledge to make your own website. Back in the day, you had to understand HTML to make a website. There were no shortcuts back then, no Dreamweaver or anything like that. Building a personal website was a labor of love, something not for the faint of heart or the inexperienced.

It is funny how quickly things have changed. Nowadays, making a website is practically a rite of passage for anyone who wants to consider himself or herself tech savvy. Everyone and their mother has a blog, and the numbers are only growing. If you have not learned to make your own website, you probably feel behind by now. After all, sites such as MySpace and LiveJournal make it so easy that people who know next to nothing about the Internet are doing it.

I have to admit that, up until recently, I had never made a website. I had told myself that making a website was a waste of time

In this design article, we will go over the most important steps to take for protecting your web site and web graphic images from these online thieves.

1. Place a copyright notice on every web page

The first thing to do is display your copyright notice on the bottom of your home page - and preferably on all pages of your web site.

This copyright notice should be followed by the year of publication and your company name, such as:

Keeping Your Website Simple Is Most Effective

What do the Internet

Offline Can Pay Off

Increasing your website activity does not mean you have to be online all of the time, ducking into chat rooms and onto bulletin boards only long enough to scream out the title and url of your website before they cyber drag you out of the room kicking and screaming. There are a number of ways you can promote your website without sitting in front of your computer all day every day.

The first way to increase your website activity while you are offline is by adding your website address to all of the printed material your business makes. This includes company letterheads, envelopes, newsletters, fax cover sheets and business cards. This is not to say you should not include your traditional company contact address, but your website address certainly deserves a place on all of your literature.

The second way to promote your website activity while you are offline is to write about your site on a regular basis in your company's newsletter. Be sure to announce it if you are re-launching (or launching for the first time) your company website. You also want to announce major site changes, like the addition of a section from your CEO. You may even want to include a regular feature that highlights changes and special sections of the website your customers should check out.

The next way to increase your website activity while you are offline is to get the best, and easiest to remember, website address for your company. This will ensure that people can remember it and find it easier to return on a regular basis. If staff members stumble over the address on a regular basis, or customers find it difficult to remember or type into the address bar of the internet service they use on a regular basis, it is unlikely to be visited as often.

Another way to increase your website activity while you are offline is to be sure your entire staff is knowledgeable about the site and its contents. Even the person who answers the main phone line should be able to answer general questions about the website. This ensures that any customer who has even the slightest question about the site will find your staff helpful and intelligent, increasing site activity.

The fifth way to promote website activity while you are offline is to add the website address to your company's voice mail. If a customer calls after hours and gets your voice mail, they are likely to want to make an immediate connection with your company. Adding the site address to the message they will hear makes it more likely they will turn to an online connection to see your company.

An additional way to promote website activity while you are offline is to be sure that your website appears in any printed media attention your company receives. Ask that it be printed with your name or with the bio section of the article.

The seventh way to promote website activity while you are offline is to be sure to mention your website address whenever you deal with any type of media. If the local news station is interviewing you about your accounting firm at tax time, it is a good time to bring up your website address.

The next way to promote website activity while you are offline is to add your website address to all press releases you make to the media. Press releases can seem a bit naked if you cannot give customers a way to directly connect with the company after the article has been printed. A website address can do just that.

The ninth way to promote website activity while you are offline is to be sure that your website address appears on all promotional materials. Most companies have promotional materials like t-shirts, jackets, duffle bags, Frisbees, and notepads, that they offer customers and their employees as free gifts. Printing the website address on these is a good way to reinforce the idea that customers should go to your site.

The final way to promote website activity while you are offline is to get a magnetic sign or bumper sticker to add to your fleet of company vehicles and add to your employee's personal vehicles advertising the site. When you are stuck in traffic on the freeway, the guy next to you or behind you might just punch up the site on his blackberry for lack of a better activity.

Protecting Your Website From Online Thieves - Part 3

Act now for your copyright

In the previous design article Prevention Cures Copyright, we covered how to protect your web site files and gather evidence of your copyright ownership. Now we will look at how you can take all of your preparation and use it to find your online thieves.

Use the major search engines

To tell if someone has stolen your web site or your web graphic images, you can use the major search engines.

Start by searching for words or phrases unique to your site, such as your company name. This is where we catch many online thieves. They steal our web content without remembering to take out every instance of our name.

For further quality searches, we recommend typing the article titles and headlines from your most popular web pages into the search box.

For each search, go through the first three results pages. If the content looks familiar, check the web address (URL). If it shows a link to a page you are not familiar with, click on it and review the page.

Make sure you are given full credit for your work that another site displays - especially if another web author has used your work without your permission. If there is no reference on the page to the original author or to your web site, you might have a case for copyright infringement.

Some search engines allow you to do searches for graphic images. You can also search for unique graphic images that you use on your site, particularly if you named your graphic image an unusual name. It can even be a 1 pixel x 1 pixel transparent GIF with an unusual name in an unusual place. Most online thieves are usually not savvy enough to find that image within your HTML documents.

Review your log files

Your log files can be helpful in finding online thieves. These statistical reports are carried by most web hosts and include updated records of who links directly to your web site.

Generally, your web host will provide you with password-protected access to these stats, which you can view online and print out. We recommend that at the end of every month, you print out your stats for that month and look through the list of web sites linking to yours. See which sites look unfamiliar and review those pages individually.

Before contacting anyone - alleged thief, web host, ISP, their partner sites, anyone - gather all evidence of theft first.

Make hard and digital copies of the stolen web page content and the source code. Print the web pages that were stolen and make sure the date is contained on every page you print. Include URL's and titles. You must have a date on the printed pages and the URL's in the event the host or the webmaster takes down the site.

Next, view the source code, that is, the HTML code, and print that. You can do this by going to the Menu command and View/Source in your web browser. Compare the code of the offender's site with your own to see how closely they match. Many online thieves will take HTML code without making any changes

Integrating A Website With Your Business

It has been one of my continual themes when talking with clients about their websites that their site needs to serve their business. When I work with a client, I look at their website as an extension of their business model. I take a look at their overall business and evaluate:

* How do they make their money?
* Who is their public or target audience?
* How can their public be promoted to?
* How can the web be used to help automate their business?

I'll listen to what they want to achieve with their website and then recommend options to help that website achieve the points above: making money, automate and promote to their target audience.

Anybody looking to put up a website for business purposes needs to look at this. Too many business sites are very poorly thought out and underutilized. A good website is a lot more than good design. A good design and some content means only that a website is acting as a glorified brochure. Its better than nothing and any business today which does not at least have that really needs to get on the ball. However, beyond design, you can look at how the site will achieve the points above.

Now, a business which is all web-based is very straight-forward in this department. A web-based business is going to want to collect payments from customers via the web, so we're going to want a secure payment system on that website. We also want that website to be well-designed so that it does not confuse people and attracts the customers' eyes to those things which make the business money. We're also going to want to discuss how the web can be used to promote. A business which is not web-based would want to consider what they can provide on the web to extend their business. Traditional brick-and-mortar businesses may have a storefront or may need to deal with clients in person, but what can they do on the web to extend their reach?

Promotion is paramount to success in business and on the web. A website can perform any of many promotional tasks such as:

* Collecting sales leads by asking visitors to fill out a form. Perhaps give them some free, valuable content in exchange for their information.
* Collecting email addresses for use on a mailing list
* Auto-responders sending targeted emails automatically based on customer's indicated interests on a form
* Providing metrics on customer interest using landing pages and keyword advertising
* Running polls and surveys to find out what your potential customers want
* Running free articles which educate your customers on the subject matter of your business and get them interested.

A website is a footprint on the internet which is viewable worldwide. Depending on the nature of your business, visitors located well away from you may not be that useful in terms of potential clientele. However, there is no reason why you cannot still gather information from them to use with your local clientele. After all, if they arrived to your website, they were interested enough to come. They are a public for you regardless of their location. Perhaps you can even find a way to change your business model to include these people which are not located locally to your business.

In terms of automation, keep something in mind. A web server is simply a computer. Computers are great at doing repetitive tasks that humans either hate or would find a huge waste of time. For this reason, it is always a good idea to look over those business functions which are repetitive and see if your website can serve to make your life easier. For example:

* Sending your email newsletters could easily be done using your web server. Click a button and email your entire mailing list. Easy.
* Auto-responders can take care of automatically emailing your customers relevant information at regular intervals.
* Automatically compile sales statistics and email them to you each morning (if you do web sales)
* Export sales transactions directly into your accounting software to avoid typing them all in manually.

There are a number of ways a web server can be used to serve a very real business function and actually do some of the work for you.

A lot of this comes under the heading of programming. Design is design, however making the site actually DO something means it has to be programmed. So, if you are skilled in this area, you can do it yourself. Or perhaps you can hire it out to somebody. Before any of that, though, look over your entire business and the website you have and see how it can be utilized to make your business easier to manage or actually drive in business. Unless your website is personal in nature, then it is through the lens of business that your site needs to be evaluated.

New cameras provide good content for a photography website

So you plan to create a website meant solely for photography and topics related to photography? The most important thing to do for this is to gather and create useful and interesting content for the website. Remember that your photography website is going to become a marketing tool for your website, and so your website content should accordingly reflect this. You could actually create the web design for your photography website using the numerous software and templates available on the Internet. However, if you do use this software or template, you will not be able to create a unique website as anyone else can design a website using the same software or template, and will thus resemble your photography website.

So if you plan to have a photography website that is unique, you could enlist the services of a professional web designer. The web designer helps you create a website using his expertise. If you are not satisfied, you could make some changes to the designs he gives, to finally come across the best website designs. The additions and deletions you make in the website design all come in the web designer’s package, and he is not to charge extra for that work. The professional web designer may cost a bit but compared to the profits you make through the website, this fare can be considered negligible.

If you plan to write your own content for your photography website, remember to appeal to the emotions of your web site visitors. Make it a point to highlight the benefits of photography; like the benefits of digital photography, where you can do all the developing and printing of photos in the comfort of your house; without having to go to a photo developing shop. You could include programs for novices to organize photos into albums. By doing this, the visitor learns how to load the photographs into a community building web page that permits sharing of photos address books and chat rooms. Including photography tips is very important in a photography website, as everyone is always on the lookout for tips to make their photography better and more attractive. All these points make the visitor more interested in visiting your website to read the content of the website.

Of course, other content that could be entered in a photography website would be newsletters and articles of new products and services that are available for improved photography. The photography market is improving everyday, with new cameras, video cameras, printers and photo accessories coming out everyday. By including all this in the photography website, people will be informed about the developments in the world of photography. Since there are many photography contests going on around the country and the world, including information about this too is feasible for the photography website. In this way, people who are interested in the competitions may participate in these competitions. News about the numerous photography events going on too is another piece of information that could be included in the photography website. This way, photographers can visit these events to have a look at the work of others’ photography and thus make improvements in their own photography.

To make the content of your photography website more interesting and appealing to the visitors, you could consider including banners buttons and clip art in the photography website. However, avoid creating too big banners and graphic designs for the photography website, as visitors are not actually that patient to wait for these big files to download; they may leave the website for waiting for so long. Another thing to remember when creating a website for photography; is that it is vital to use terminology that the general public understands, as it is they who will be most visiting your website. Don’t use industry jargon and abbreviations, as a well-written site is one that entices sales and improves your search engine rankings. This can be done only if the visitor actually understands what is on your photography website!

As your photography website may also contain cameras and camera accessories for sale, it is important that you eliminate apprehensions of visitors buying online. You have to ensure them that you have a privacy policy, which they can easily access. Display your contact information on your website as this lends credibility and reassures potential buyers. Showing satisfaction of your products and services with testimonials from past clients too is an important part of your photography website. They are an excellent marketing tool, just make sure that the testimonials are legitimate. You could legitimize the testimonials by including the person’s title, business name and website too. Make your purchase process in the photography website easy for the visitor to understand. Keep the purchase buttons at easily identifiable points by using action words like ‘buy now’ on the buttons. This is sure to give an increase in the sales of your photography equipment and also more visits to your website! So keep all these points in mind when creating a photography website and see the popularity of the website soar!

Really Communicate To Your Website Visitors

This article might be a bit different than you've come to expect from a webmaster-related article. The reason is that, in my opinion, it is a facet of the internet many people don't really think about. And that is communication. But, by communication I mean more than just talking or writing. Read on...

What is Communication?

Communication is defined simply as the transferring of an idea or concept from one point to another with full duplication on the receiving side. This last component is one often forgotten. So, a full one-way communication would be Fred has an idea about a widget. He propels that idea across space to Ted. Ted receives the communication, understands it, and has full duplication on his end of the exact concept Fred was thinking about that widget. Now, a full two-way communication would be the above process, but with the addendum that Ted thereby acknowledge Fred for his communication, sending the acknowledgement across space to Fred, at which point Fred receives the acknowledgement and fully duplicates and understands the acknowledgement. Fred would then thank Ted for this acknowledgement.

So, what we have here is an interchange of ideas with full understanding on both sides, as well as the full understanding on both sides that their communication(s) is/are being received.

Why Do I Bring This Up?

Good question. The above communication formula applies to everything. Interpersonal relations, business, family, etc. However, we are in the business of websites. A website, by its very nature, is a communication medium. If your site does not properly observe this communication formula, you may be spinning your wheels posting and emailing your visitors/customers and they might still not really be receiving your communication. And, again, I emphasize that receipt. When you email a customer, I am not referring to whether that email arrives in their inbox. No, I am referring to whether that person fully duplicated your communication and got the exact point you were trying to make.

Have you ever written an article which, to you, makes sense, but others seem to not be able to grasp? Have you written sales copy that generated little to no sales? Have you dealt with a client which, no matter how hard you try, just doesn't seem to "get it"? If anything like this is out, then your communication formula is out. For one reason or the other, they are not getting the same understanding you are.

How Does This Apply?

It's far easier to observe proper communication in person than over the internet. First, when the person is right in front of you, you get immediate feedback as to whether they are understanding you. On the internet, if someone doesn't understand your writing, they will just leave and you'll never know. In fact, on the internet, if the communication is out in any way, you'll probably just lose the visitor. And the nature of the medium is that you won't know.

But, how can you do your part to enforce a proper communication formula on your website? Let's look at that:

1. Definitions of Words. Words are part and parcel of the language. But, if someone does not understand the words you are using, the language will not communicate to them. In fact, as human nature has it, when a person is reading something they don't understand, they will first forget they read it, second they will individuate from it. Ultimately, they will just leave and not come back. So, it is in your interest to use words that your visitors will understand. Do not use big, fancy words just for the sake of looking learned. It doesn't work. Also, if your site discusses topics which are technical in nature, do your best to describe things in an easy-to-follow way. Lastly, it is my opinion that every site which is an instructional type of site should include a glossary. Maintain a glossary of commonly misunderstood terms and, in your content, hyperlink those words to the definition. You could even use ALT tags or DIV layers to make the definition pop up when you hover over the word. However you choose to employ it, making sure your writing communicates to your reader is in your interest. And this starts with using words they understand.

2. Acknowledge Your Visitors. As discussed above, acknowledgement is half of the communication cycle. So, when your visitors send you an email, acknowledge it. If you do not, your visitor will think you are ignoring them and they may become upset. I don't intend to make your visitor seem like a child there, but it is true. Visitors who are in good communication with a website are more likely to remember that website. Their like for the site will increase and they will have a higher level of agreement with the people behind it. That is good for you. On the other hand, if you ignore them and do not reply to their messages, then the communication really doesn't exist. Therefore, they will write you off. So, organize your site's email lines so that emails are replied to. At the least, set up an auto responder to let them know their message was received. Ideally, though, you will send them an actual reply.

3. When needed, enforce acknowledgement. Sometimes, a visitor will initiate a transaction of some variety and then abandon it. For example, they may sign up for your mailing list but fail to confirm their subscription. Well, the communication formula is out. They never acknowledged the confirmation email. Maybe it never arrived. Maybe they forgot. Regardless, you need to repeat the question. Just as you would in real life if somebody does not answer your question, you repeat until you get an answer. In our example, you may send them a series of reminders (enabled via cron) until they confirm their subscription. After a few tries, you can write them off.

4. Design to Communicate. The design of your website needs to lend itself to the message you are trying to communicate. Badly designed, a site's design can impede the message. It would be like trying to communicate to someone over the loud noise of a jet engine. In this case, you may be talking fine, but you need to handle the environment around you to make your communication arrive. Stop the jet engine or go somewhere else where you can get your message across. Online, your site is the medium. Your content can be well-written and the words defined, but if the site is a chore to use, then your site becomes the din that will keep the message from arriving in the mind of the reader. I will reserve design theories for another article, but pay attention to things like (1) cross-browser compatibility, (2) your main message being very apparent when the user arrives to your homepage, (3) functional layout. On #2, do not overcrowd the page with so much information that the user doesn't know where to focus.

5. Allow Others to Communicate. Communication is the engine which powers life. It is what makes the world go round. This is the reason why interactive elements on a website make the site more sticky and more trafficked. People love to communicate. So, set up online forums, interactive quizzes, anything that will invite feedback and participation on the part of your visitor. Your site does not need to be a one-way flow from you to them. In fact, a successful website will actively get the return flow from them to the site.

6. Speak to Their Reality. This could take an article in and of itself, but I will give it a brief mention here. Even observing all of the above, you have the simple fact that everybody has a certain way of looking at things. And everybody thinks their way of looking at the world is right. In fact, they KNOW they are right. If you are communicating to them assuming things that are not part of their reality, then the communication will not arrive to them. A person has to be receptive to your communication. An example would be trying to explain the health benefits of meat to a member of PETA. So, in any situation, you need to find what the reality of your target audience is and then tailor your communication to THAT reality in order for your communication to really arrive. This is where inviting visitor feedback comes into play. Keep a running record of feedback to see what their reality is. Do surveys. Find out what their experience is and speak to that. By doing this and observing the proper communication formula, you WILL be the authority for them in your field. Look at Oprah. She is very wealthy, so much so that most other people cannot really identify with that kind of wealth. But, Oprah is out there, talking to everyone. And she positions herself in such a way where people identify with her. She doesn't put up a front. She is REAL to people. She speaks to their reality. And she is very successful because of it.

Wrap It Up

I have touched on some things in this article which I can easily expand upon at a later date. And I probably will. But, this will get you started. Judge the communication to and from your website and see how it measures up. Any successful website cannot sit there on the internet as it's own little island. It has to communicate and communicate in a big way. It has to serve as that 6 lane highway with traffic going in both directions. Make your site do this and you'll be on your way.

Make Easy Money Online With Your Own Website

Everybody wants to earn money! So rather than spending your time just goofing around, you can try doing business at your home or even at your office on the side or as full time. You just need an internet connection and money is just a click of the mouse away.

It is easy to think of a business but it is hard to control it. With an online business, you are the boss of your own business, you earn at the same time you enjoy your life. The task on your part is easy, some mouse clicks and the right idea will lead you to profit.

One way to earn money easily is through making your own website. How can you make money out of it? Easy. This is where you will post or publish your product if you are going to sell something. You can also add your personal information if you want to apply for work.

There are a lot of things that you can do with your personalized site. You need to grab all the chances that will come to you, when people come and visit your site. This will be your doorway to your new career.

To start with your site, check out the following tips:

1. Do some brainstorming - This is the stage at which you can come up with so many ideas. Among all the ideas that come out of your mind, choose the best. You will determine your entire plan for your site. The style that you want or even the business that you want to start, all these should be the result of your brainstorming.

2. Assess and be consistent on your target market- After going over all the concepts of your site, choose a target market. This will include the customers that you will have. Usually, it varies from age brackets and status or profession of a person.

3. Estimate the time and money that you have to exert and spend on your business- All of these factors will affect your profit so it is necessary that you have an estimated cost. You need to be aware fo the fact that the more money or gain that you want the more time you will also spend with your site.

4. Create your website name- Your primary consideration is to create a name that will attract the attention of visitors. They will be more interested to search on your website if it has a pleasing name.

5. Hire a professional- If you do not know how to do web design, hire a professional. A professional web designer can help you with your problem. If you want your site to look really professional you have to hire a professional!

6. Upload your website- If everything is fixed and you are now ready to let people view your site, then upload it.

If you intend to sell products from your site, you need a way to accept payments. You can apply for a merchant account or use one of the many third party credit card processing companies like paypal, 2checkout, or stormpay.

After your website is up and running you need to promote it. A website without visitors won't make any money. So web promotion is one of the most important things if you want to make money from your website. There are thousands of free ebooks, reports, articles, and online courses available that will teach you how to attract visitors and how to improve search engine ranking. Just go to your favorite search engine and search for e.g. "web promotion free ebook".

So, good luck to your business!

Local Community Websites

Hi, my name is James Warren and i would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of my experiences with my latest project.

I am building a website which is targeted to the local people of the town that i live in. The town is called Sudbury. It is in the county of Suffolk in the UK.

The purpose of the site isn't to attract people to the area or to inform people about any of the features that the town has to offer. It is all about communicating within the local community. It is my aim for the people of Sudbury to become regular users of the website. I want them to find information about local events and read reviews about the restaurants in the town and to keep visiting the website on a regular basis.

Why do you want people to keep visiting?

It is my aim to sell advertising space to local businesses and traders. This along with Google Adsence and a few Affilliate links should generate a half decent income. So with the people of Sudbury coming back time and time again, i will be in a good position to put premiums on advertising space.

The website is progressing well and i hope to launch it very soon. I will have to do a lot of marketing in the town to really promote it and get people to actually visit the site and hopefully through word of mouth and some decent press releases, i should be able to establish a good following. What do you think? Is i something that could work in your opinion? Why not have a look at the site and give some feedback.

Orkut: Google

Are you interested in meeting new people online? How about people that share the same interests as you? If so, one of the best ways to find those individuals to use online social networking websites. Social networking websites are often compared to neighborhoods or communities, but ones that are online. If are interested in making use of these popular websites, if you haven

Looking For A Used Ford Then Go Online With A Specialist Used Car Website

If you are looking for a used Ford then going online with a specialist used car website can considerably cut down the time you spend on your search for the car. A specialist site will offer all the tools needed for you to find your ideal used car by giving you access to tools which you can tailor to your needs such as the used car search engine to ensure that you are only spending time on the model of Ford you are interested in.

To begin with you can use the extensive search tool which all specialist used car websites will offer, this allows you to search not only for a used Ford but you can also search based on the area in which you wish to travel, the price of the car, model of car and any extras you wish to have and even down to the colour if needed. This is without a doubt the quickest and easiest ways of narrowing down you search so that you only have to look through the exact model you have in mind rather than wade through pages of cars you are not interested in. Some of the bigger used car websites will have thousands of used cars and even a huge range of used Fords so using a search engine to narrow down your choices is essential.

Once you have narrowed down what is on offer using the search engine you could still be left with a huge choice of cars. You can either narrow down your search even more or start to compare the choices of used Ford you have found. To help you there should be good clear photographs of the car from the front, back, sides and if you are lucky the interior of the car and this can give you a good indication of the bodywork of the car. There should also be a detailed listing with all the necessary information regarding the car such as the shape it is in, how many miles it has done, the price and of course if the seller is honest any problems the car has.

You do have to be aware of any used Ford that seems too good to be true. While there are many honest sellers just looking to pass on their car there are also some unscrupulous dealers who will try to make a profit from an old banger, often posing as a private seller. If you don

Online Video Websites: Popular Alternatives

When you think of online video websites, which websites come to mind? There is a good chance that you responded with Google Video or YouTube. Google Video and YouTube are known as two of the most popular online video websites. Although they are great sites to use, they are not the only sites that are available. If you are looking for other alternatives, you will find that you have a number of different options.

If you are looking for alternatives to Google Video or YouTube, you are advised to perform a standard internet search. Perhaps, a standard internet search is the best way to find other online video websites. In addition to being linked to those websites, you may also find online discussions that are centered on online video websites. If you have the time to read these discussions, you are advised to. They may help to give you an idea as to which online video websites are worth your time and which ones are not.

As previously mentioned, you should be able to find a number of different online video websites by performing a standard internet search. Your search results will likely include Vimeo. Vimeo is an online video website that is well known throughout the internet community. With Vimeo you can easily view a collection of different online videos. Real Estate Website Scams

Many still say the Internet is like the Wild West. When it comes to the proliferation of scams, this is certainly true! As webmaster for over two dozen legal, real estate, and other business oriented websites, we receive a lot of email and phone solicitations. Often our clients ask our opinion on an Internet service or software product. We have researched and found the majority of offers directed toward real estate firms are what I call the half-truth variety.

It is interesting that these offers directed at small to mid-size firms are like live Internet viruses, they seem to mutate over time. The core remains, but, the exterior packaging (a.k.a. sales pitch) appears totally different.

One of the most enduring of such Internet scams is the offer to list your real estate site in an Internet real estate directory at what appears to be a huge savings over a legitimate real estate directory. The perpetrators of such scams provide impressive

The new pop-up marketing software is not just your standard pop-up anymore. Today, you can market in a much less intrusive and irritating way to your customers. The prevalence of pop-up blockers in web browsers is huge and very affective. In the older days, it was a necessary tool because computers would literally freeze up because of p pop-up. Your job as a marketer is to draw in customers and keep them. However, you do not want to drive traffic away by having huge amounts of pop-up that take over their screen. When using the software, you will need to decide which type of pop-ups you want to use. Be sure to check out several of them before making a decision.

Making Money from your Website

Every day more and more people are realizing the great potential in internet marketing. Internet marketing is a booming industry and can make you money - if you are willing to work for it. Potential internet marketers have access to multiple sources of free training material. You can learn the best techniques and business practices practically free due to the numerous resources available online. In turn, your clientele can learn just as quickly on what is truly a value and what is simply hype. People are more than willing to spend money online. A successful internet marketer will treat the public like intelligent adults who are able to determine what constitutes a bargain and what does not.

As an internet marketer, ask yourself a few simple questions:

What will it take to convince potential customers to buy from you instead of the competition?

What will make your customers want to ask for a refund and unsubscribe to your mailing list?

What makes people want to buy in the first place?

You can keep your customers interest by offering a valuable product that will provide them knowledge. Your product or service must offer them a way to speed the growth of their own business. Your product will sell if it provides internet marketers a way to automate certain tasks, freeing their time to concentrate on creativity and marketing rather than spend their valuable time on routine jobs. Once your customers have become accustomed to a few sales letters, they begin to search for what the product can truly offer them. Original content and products that give customers a unique value for their dollar are what attracts new business.

In general, people unsubscribe from mailing lists because they repeatedly receive the same emails over and over. As an internet marketer you must remember to move customers from one mailing list to another after they have made a purchase. Emails that give the identical information as several other affiliates for the same product will lead to the loss of customers. Your customers demand new information presented to them in a way that makes you stand out from the crowd. Keep in mind that once someone has subscribed to your list, you will have to provide regular mailings containing new information. Unique content is absolutely necessary for the success of your internet marketing business.

If your product does not live up to the promises you make, you can expect customers to ask for a refund. Smart customers will no longer simply chalk it up to a bad experience. If your product or service does not provide them exactly what you have promised, they will not hesitate to ask for their money back. To succeed as an internet marketer, you must provide your customers value for their money.

There is always another internet marketer who is willing to offer potential customer a superior value. If you expect to profit, you must give your customers an exceptional product at a fair price. Keep your mailing list updated and offer unique content each and every time. The way you relate to your customers is directly related to the profits you can expect to receive. Becoming an internet marketer is not as simple as creating a web site and joining affiliate programs. You will have to be vigilant in the work you put into your business and the attention you give to your customers.

Make Your Event Website Pop With Logos And Colors

The logo and colors provide the face for your event and can help to build credibility. It is always a good idea to include your organization's logo on registration forms to lend the credibility of that entity to the event itself. However, creating a separate logo for the event itself can help you convey more ideas than your company logo can on its own.

Adding your company logo to your event marketing materials like flyers, emails, invitations, registration forms, and event websites is imperative, especially when your company or organization is an industry-wide expert or a household name. For example, Zig Ziglar conferences or Yahoo! Search Marketing seminars always rely on the brand recognition of the parent company to help create notoriety and credibility for their events. Using your organization's logo also helps to create consistency when you send registrants from your homepage to the registration form. Seeing a prominent reference to your parent organization reminds the registrant that the event is presented with the same quality and attention to detail that they have already experienced.

You should also consider creating a logo specifically for your event especially if the event has a large following and is building its own branding. It is not a bad idea to incorporate the general theme of your organization's logo into the event-specific logo, including the colors, shapes and fonts. However, make sure to give the event logo its own identity or twist which makes it unique from your primary logo. If you need inspiration for elements to add to the event logo you can take inspiration from the properties of the event itself. Consider the event venue (located in Florida? Consider adding a palm tree.), the type of event (what golf tournament logo is complete without a club, flag or ball?), and the industry. It may seem clich

Make Your Simple Website Stunning With Web Graphics

If you feel that your website is losing traffic because it is not stunning enough, your concerns may not be unjustified. In the competitive world of web design simplicity may not be the key to popularity. With the development of new and advanced technologies and software, there are no earthly reasons why your website should stick to being plain and mundane.

Tricks to create a stunning website

Applying animated banners, buttons and graphics can expand the creative horizons of your viewers. Animated special effects will attract people to your website, and if your site content is balanced with the decoration, viewers will definitely go through the other web pages. Personalizing the website can also build bridges between you and your clients. If you have a database with your clients

Is your website content delivering you results?

The Importance of Keeping Content Up to Date
Imagine you're the owner of a successful car dealership but when your customers look at the cars listed on your website they notice that the cars are a month or so old or, even worse, they call you only to find out that that dream car they were looking at sold a week ago? This is hardly going to give them much confidence in the rest of your offering. On the other hand, imagine your web site has information that is accurate and up-to-date, where you can update car listings after a sale to respond to visitor queries and do all this easily, painlessly and without even phoning your website company? That, in a nutshell, is an effective website content management system.

The website is a work horse
I often ask people, do your sales people sleep at night and take breaks for lunch during the day?... They look at me like I

Natural Search Engine Results and Website Consulting

You scroll down past the banner ads and enter your search term. You pass the "sponsored results" without a glance. You ignore the shaded results to the right, as well as the additional "sponsored results" at bottom. Hiding somewhere in the middle of it all, you finally find the results you came for.
Welcome to the world of natural search- a world where mom-and-pop shops compete with million dollar companies, where million dollar companies compete with billion dollar corporations. And, while many will argue to the contrary, the playing field is more or less level. Small companies can and do dominate their behemoth competitors in this world, for a variety of reasons.

What Is Natural Search?
For those who aren't quite clear what the term means, "natural" or "organic" search describes the "editorial" search results on any particular engine. These results are purported to be completely non-biased - meaning that the engine will not accept any amount of money to influence the rankings of any individual sites. This is quite different than the paid advertising that appears in "sponsored" or "featured" results, in which higher positions are rewarded to the companies willing to pay the most per visitor.
Why Is Natural Search Important?
Savvy searchers who understand the difference between paid and natural results are more likely to hold the natural results in a higher regard, much like a person reading a magazine would probably be more positively influenced by an article about a particular company than by a paid advertisement from the company.
It is also likely that natural search will become more important in the coming months. Yahoo's new Site Match program, which mixes some paid results with natural results, is certain to get some close scrutiny from the FTC (even though the fees paid are not supposed to influence rankings). This type of public attention will no doubt educate some oblivious users as to what "sponsored results" actually are. More importantly, other search engines are likely to use this as a means of differentiation from Yahoo. It is no coincidence that Ask Jeeves announced that it was getting rid of its similar program the day after Yahoo's new program was unveiled, claiming that it was impossible to produce unbiased results using this methodology. Microsoft also recently claimed that they were taking steps to further differentiate paid results from natural results. No matter what the end result, one probable outcome of this new attention to paid search engine advertising is that more average searchers will learn the differences between paid and natural search results, and many will instinctively favor the latter.

What Advantages Do Huge Corporations Have?
Certainly, large companies do have some specific advantages when it comes to natural search.
a. Links- the primary advantage that large corporations have is their ability to obtain large amounts of inbound links, which can have a huge impact on search engine rankings. Often these links are given freely without the company asking (or being aware that it is happening). Many of the huge corporation's vendors, affiliates, partners, etc. are eager to show their association with the company and link to the corporate site readily and non-reciprocally. Large corporations can also facilitate huge increases in link popularity through a simple corporate policy requiring inbound links from any companies wishing to work with them. In addition, very large corporations may have several websites, which can sometimes be effectively linked together for additional link popularity.
b. Budget- although history shows that a large percentage of major corporations do not spend wisely in this arena, larger corporations typically have larger marketing budgets then their smaller competitors. However, this does not necessarily mean that they will readily allocate a portion of that budget for search engine optimization, as discussed below.
What Advantages Do Smaller Companies Have?
While the advantages of huge corporations, particularly in the area of link popularity, can be difficult to overcome, it is often unnecessary to try. A large percentage of such companies consistently seem to shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to natural search engine optimization, a primary reason why small companies can often outperform them. Specific advantages include:

a. A willingness to pursue the channel- Smaller companies are typically more willing to devote resources to natural search than large corporations. Huge things have to happen for a major corporation to get involved in this "new" channel, a channel far removed from the traditional marketing methodologies used to build the giant. Few corporate underlings want to be the one to put their neck on the line and recommend something completely new and "unproven". Even when a large corporation looks into natural search engine optimization as a potential marketing tool, it can take many months, and sometimes years, for a final decision to be made.
b. A willingness to change the company website- Huge corporations face similar problems when it comes to changing to the corporate website. Within such entities, a person can often not get so much as a comma removed from the text of a secondary page without holding several upper-level management meetings and, ultimately, making a board presentation. Smaller, leaner companies are able to approve necessary website changes more quickly, and are almost always more willing to quickly adapt to the needs of both visitors and search engines.

c. The willingness to outsource- Larger companies have more internal resources at their disposal, and are less likely to outsource this specialized service to someone with proven experience. Often, search engine optimization is treated as an afterthought and dumped on an IT person, who typically has too much to do already and will approach the problem solely from a technical standpoint. Natural search engine optimization is by necessity a combination of marketing and technology. Newcomers to the field (especially those who treat the discipline as strictly a technical issue) often make fundamental mistakes that at best do not get results and at worst put sites at risk of penalization.
d. A lack of technical hurdles- Huge corporations are more likely to have technical issues on their website that can prevent search engines from indexing all of their pages. Often the pages of corporate websites are generated "on the fly" from large databases, and such pages (without modification to the URLs) are sometimes never indexed. In addition, (although usability studies are making this happen less often), some huge corporations have their sites built entirely in flash or use other technologies that are virtually invisible to search engines.
The Bottom Line
To most huge corporations, search engine optimization is often a very small piece of an enormous puzzle - and it is a piece they have been doing without for years. The necessary steps required to fully embrace the channel are often enough to stop any well-intentioned initiative in its tracks. As most search engine optimization experts will tell you, some of the most egregious search engine mistakes are consistently made by household name companies - leaving their smaller, leaner competitors the opportunity to take full advantage.

Is Google having a tough time with their website limit?

If you are one to pay attention to what happens within the Google realm, you might find yourself thrown for a loop these days. As Google updates their results, it seems like they are having some issues dealing with so many new websites popping up.

Indexing 8 billion websites is quite an accomplishment for Google. As they are reluctant to increase this number, they are faced with many challenges in trying to keep some sites within these 8 billion pages while losing some others, after each update they do to their database.

So how do you determine which listings to lose?

We've all heard of the "sandbox theory"! (New sites are added to a group of other new sites until a certain amount of time has passed and you've proven your worth. Once you've proven your site is valuable, Google releases it within its regular search results).

It seems to me that if you don't own a large network of websites that can easily increase the websites link popularity overnight, your newly created website won't get hit as hard and is added to the sandbox for only a certain period of time.

On the other hand, if you do own a large network of websites and increase the amount of websites you have, your newly built website(s) will get hit harder and may take a lot more time and promotional effort to get good search rankings results within Google.

Let's take a look at why this may be true:

1st) It has been long speculated that Google searches through the "WHOIS" data base regularly ("WHOIS" - Contact record of who owns a specific domain name). By doing this Google can now see who owns what and how many domain names they own. By doing this Google can now determine that "Company A" owns 25 websites. This collection of 25 websites can now all be crawled to look for content copying, ghost pages, mimic pages, irrelevant link directories, etc. By knowing that you own 25 websites, Google can quickly determine their worth and rank them accordingly.

2nd) With this knowledge provided by the "WHOIS" data base, Google can also see how many years you've registered each domain name for. For instance, if you register all your domain names for only 1 year, there is a possibility that you don't plan on using these domain names for the long term. Instead, you may be using these new domain
names simply to keep up with new changes on the internet and new standards in search engine optimization.

On the other hand, if you register all of your new domain names for the next 5 years, it is more likely that you are going to use these domain names in the future. This now gives more relevance to each domain name you register for more than 1 year.

I am now recommending to all my clients not only to make sure to register a domain name related to their country (i.e. Canada = .ca), but to also make sure that they register their domain name for 5 years. If you are truly serious about increasing your business online, why would you risk missing your domain name renewals every year and possibly loose your domain name?

Google may also look at how long you've owned this website for!

It may be true that by adding your new website to the "sandbox", Google may also add your website to a "history report". This history report can give their database detailed information about how old your website is. These days, I believe that it takes about 6-8 months before Google updates your "history report". By updating, I mean possibly releasing your website further within search results.

See, this combination of "who owns the domain", "how long will you own the domain name", and "how old is the website", can provide a more accurate report to Google as to whether or not this website will survive, stay the course, or provide great content. Through this "history report" and "sandbox report", your website will go through an "exam" after 6-8 months in order to determine whether or not you are ready to play with the big boys online or whether or not your website has what it takes to succeed online.

Until Google increases the amount of websites it will index within its results, we are all going to have to battle to stay on top. Internet marketing in general is becoming increasingly tougher with every month that passes. It has finally caught up to us and we are now starting to fight a hard battle.

One more thing you may notice:

Google's cache (Snapshot image of your website when it crawls through) is becoming a little wonky lately. One day Google will have an updated cache, the next day it won't have a cache at all, and the following day it will have a cache of your website from 2 weeks ago.

What does this all mean?

When Google crawls a certain page, it looks at everything. Let
